The successful Blumhouse horror movie "The Black Phone" is set for a sequel, expected to hit screens on June 27, 2025 according to an announcement from Universal Studios. C. Robert Cargill, co-writer of the original movie, confirmed the news on Twitter, but no additional information about the cast or production crew was disclosed.
"The Black Phone", based on a 2004 short story by Joe Hill, was directed and co-written by "Sinister" and "Doctor Strange's" Scott Derrickson and featured Ethan Hawke as the villain, The Grabber. The movie became a hit for Blumhouse, a company known for producing low-budget horror movies with high profit margins. The film earned a worldwide total of $161 million against an estimated production budget of $16 million.
Also announced for 2025 are a sequel to "M3GAN" and "The Exorcist: Deceiver", the second film in the planned new "The Exorcist" trilogy.
