Bethesda trademarks Starborn: Starfield DLC coming

Jul 29, 2024 1:26 PM

Bethesda has trademarked "Starborn," which could indicate the next expansion for their popular game Starfield following the release of Shattered Space. This news has sparked speculation about whether Starborn will be a significant expansion-sized DLC or perhaps a smaller DLC focusing on the player character. In Starfield, Starborn refers to beings that players encounter after collecting enough artifacts for Constellation and completing the main story. Bethesda aims to release annual story expansions for Starfield, with the team currently focusing on various projects, including Elder Scrolls 6 and Fallout 76 updates.

What is Starborn in Starfield?

In Starfield, Starborn are beings revealed to be humans who have traveled through a portal allowing for inter-universal travel. This is discovered as players collect artifacts for Constellation and progress through the main story.

Starfield launched on PC and Xbox Series X and S in September 2023. It became the biggest game published by Microsoft that year. The game received a 7/10 rating from IGN, citing expansive role-playing quests and respectable combat as its highlights. Bethesda has been committed to long-term support for Starfield, with Shattered Space being the most notable expansion to date. Todd Howard of Bethesda has confirmed at least one more story expansion, hinting at more future content, possibly including the speculated Starborn expansion.
