Recently, game developer Blizzard again took action against an item duplication exploit in Diablo 4, leading to the suspension of player trading. Community Manager, filthierich, announced on the Blizzard forum that the developer is working towards resolving the issue and monitoring the situation for maintaining a healthy gaming environment. Players engaging in gold and item duplication exploits are warned of punitive action in accordance with the End User License Agreement.
This is not the first time Blizzard had to suspend trading in Diablo 4. In August, a similar issue rose concerning the exploitation of gold and item duplication, leading to a ban threat. While Diablo 4's system allows trading of Common, Magic, and Gold items, including Gold, Gems and Elixirs, there is no in-game auction house currently. Instead, Discord is being utilized by players for trading virtual goods. Exploits, however, sent the makeshift market into disarray. A case in point is the unnaturally large sum of gold being bid for up-for-sale items under the effects of the exploit.
Diablo 4, despite the "mixed" review rating of 55% upon its Steam launch last week, has largely received a positive response to the new Season of Blood and its updates. Its original launch on Battle.net in June saw record-breaking sales, becoming Blizzard’s fastest-selling game of all time. With its recent acquisition by Microsoft, speculation about reviving old franchises like StarCraft has sparked interest among fans.
Guides for the new Season of Blood, especially about unlocking the new vampiric powers, are now available, along with a full walkthrough of the original campaign.
