The latest update in the Call of Duty world was announced recently, with exciting revelations for "Modern Warfare 3." Set for a big debut, the game will flaunt a fresh city-themed Warzone 2 map, complete with drivable trains, zip lines, and numerous points of interest.
This announcement took place at the COD Next showcase by Activision, which introduced us to Urzikstan, a battlefield-styled map. This urban locale, which originally featured in the 2019 game Modern Warfare, will now get its very own map. Unlike other Warzone maps, Urzikstan is quite dense with apartments and industrial sectors.
Gameplayers have various ways to navigate this sprawling map; you can hop on the first train in the franchise that players can control on velocity and direction. There are horizontal zip lines, and the spooky Urzikstan Gulag sporting three combat lanes.
The new Warzone map is bursting with points of interest. These include the apartment-heavy Zaravan City, the upmarket Shahin Manor, and the run-down Old Town. But that's not all. Activision revealed several innovative and improved gaming mechanics like ADS while sliding and slide cancelling, plus the return of good ol' red dots on the minimap. The news also confirmed the re-emergence of fan-favorite Vondel and Ashika Island maps for Resurgence.
Modern Warfare III is set for release on November 10 and will feature the new Urzikstan among the roster filled with classic maps and game modes. For gamers eager for an early take, there's an open beta this weekend with slightly less features but available on all platforms. Some gameplay footage has even leaked ahead of the game's beta. Activision, however, has been quick to try and take down these leaks.
