Exciting news for anime fans! The eagerly-anticipated screen adaptation of Naoya Matsumoto's popular manga, Kaiju No. 8, will be premiering exclusively on Crunchyroll in the spring of 2024. The anime will be available for streaming in over 200 countries, in both subbed and dubbed formats, with new episodes arriving weekly following their Japanese broadcast.

The plot follows Kafka Hibino, a man who has the unenviable task of cleaning up after Kaiju attacks, monstrous creatures that regularly terrorize humanity. However, things take a bizarre twist when a unique incident transforms Kafka into a Kaiju himself! The series will officially hit the screens in April 2024.

Matsumoto delivered a heartwarming message at the New York Comic Con (NYCC) during the Crunchyroll Industry panel, stating "Kaiju No. 8 is about someone who never gives up, even when difficulties of reality arise, with the hope of leading people into a slightly brighter future. I hope it can make your future a little brighter, too."

The story revolves around Kafka’s struggle in a harsh world and his journey to reconnect with his childhood dream of defeating the kaiju. This is inspired by his encounter with the determined Reno Ichikawa, which encourages Kafka to renew his quest.

The anime is brought to life by Production I.G., the studio known for works like PSYCHO-PASS and Ghost in the Shell, while Studio Khara supervises the elaborate kaiju artwork and design.

The news was part of a series of announcements at NYCC, which also included the revelation of a new Dragon Ball series called Dragon Ball: Daima, DC's return of the popular Elseworlds imprint, and a slew of upcoming comics from Oni Press.
