Darkest Dungeon 2: Kingdoms Expansion Coming Soon

Red Hook Studios is expanding the universe of Darkest Dungeon 2 with a new free game mode titled Kingdoms, launching later in 2024. Kingdoms combines elements of the original game and its sequel by incorporating roster management and traversal mechanics as you prevent a looming threat from obliterating the kingdom. This mode introduces a fresh way to play, with a focus on resource gathering, hero upgrading, and combating three new monster factions—namely the Coven, Beastmen, and Crimson Courtiers. The updated content will be available for PC gamers on both Steam and the Epic Games Store.

First making its debut via Early Access in 2021 and achieving full release in May 2023, Darkest Dungeon 2 built upon its predecessor's success, presenting a rogue-lite turn-based experience complete with 3D visuals maintaining the iconic style. The sequel added new features such as a road trip structure, refined turn-based combat systems, 14 unique heroes, and a meta-progression hub titled The Altar of Hope. Fans of the dark, gothic RPG have praised its challenging gameplay and deep strategy elements, and the Kingdoms update will surely provide them with exciting new content to explore.
