The Pokémon Company and Creatures are hinting at the possibility of releasing more games centered around Detective Pikachu after the launch of Detective Pikachu Returns. In an interview with Famitsu (translated by VGC), Hiroyuki Jinnai, the managing director of Creatures, stated that while Detective Pikachu Returns finalizes the storyline commenced with the first installment, this doesn't eliminate the chance of new games featuring Pikachu as a detective. He said, "All employees love the old, talking version of Pikachu, so perhaps there will be something besides the main story in the future?"
Pokemon Company Director, Tsunekazu Ishihara, also expressed the possibility of a spin-off: "I can't promise anything at this moment, but if Detective Pikachu Returns is well-received and there's a high demand for it, then there is space for a spin-off." Detective Pikachu originally released in 2016 on the 3DS, and this month its sequel, Detective Pikachu Returns, came out on Nintendo Switch. A film, sharing the same name as the original game, was released in 2019. Rumors of a film sequel circulated, but actor Justice Smith reported last year that the expected sequel probably would not be made.n
