The much-anticipated BioShock film adaptation, in collaboration with Netflix, 2K, and Take-Two, is reportedly making progress with a script that director Francis Lawrence is 'super excited about'. Despite a delay due to the writers’ strike, work has resumed with renewed enthusiasm.

Lawrence highlighted his attraction to the solitary journey of the main character from the BioShock game, likening its narrative to his previous films such as I Am Legend and the Hunger Games series. He is particularly excited about the 'world-building' possibilities of this project, notably bringing the underwater city of Rapture to life on screen.

Pointing to the rich mythology and thematic depth of BioShock as unlike most video games, Lawrence feels the source material provides an excellent foundation for a film. Finally, fans can look forward to the director's experience in adapting complex lore, which will be evident in the upcoming release of 'The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes' on November 17.
