Doom Fans: Check Out the Dark Ages Saw Shield in Classic Doom

Jun 12, 2024 11:04 AM

With barely 12 hours since the Xbox Games Showcase, a modder named Craneo has already integrated the saw-toothed shield from the upcoming game "Doom: The Dark Ages" into the original Doom. The mod replaces the classic chainsaw with this new shield, enabling players to cut through enemies, throw it at distant targets, and use it to block incoming damage. While it mirrors the new game's functionality, the shield can’t return to the player. The official Doom: The Dark Ages game is set to release in 2025 for Xbox, PC, and PlayStation 5, thanks to Microsoft's inclusive approach despite it being a Bethesda title.

When is Doom: The Dark Ages set to release?

Doom: The Dark Ages is scheduled for release in 2025 and will be available on Xbox, PC, and PlayStation 5.

Doom is a pioneering first-person shooter game first released in 1993 by id Software. The game is known for its fast-paced combat, iconic weapons, and maze-like levels filled with demonic enemies. Doom set a standard for FPS games and has a lasting legacy, with multiple sequels and a devoted modding community that keeps the game relevant even decades later.
