Jul 11, 2024 11:43 AM

Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake is set to revitalize the classic role-playing game with new story elements, improved graphics modes, and various quality of life features. As revealed by Square Enix, this remake will include a choice between 4K resolution and a 60 frames per second Performance Mode on PS5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC. Players can look forward to dual protagonist appearances, three different difficulty settings, and an array of modernization features, like autosaves, fast battle options, and customizable camera modes. This remake faithfully extends the 1988 original with modern touches, including supervision from series creator Yuji Horii. The game is scheduled to release on November 14, 2024, and it follows Square Enix's HD-2D art style made popular by Octopath Traveller.

What new features are included in the Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake?

The Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake includes new story elements, 4K resolution graphics mode, 60 frames per second Performance Mode, dual protagonist appearances, three difficulty settings, autosaves, fast battle options, customizable camera modes, and an NPC conversation log.

Dragon Quest 3 originally launched in 1988 and became one of the most beloved entries in the series. The HD-2D style, which merges 2D sprites with high-definition backgrounds, was first showcased in Octopath Traveller, capturing the essence of classic RPGs. The remake will not only refresh Dragon Quest 3 for new audiences but will pave the way for future remakes of Dragon Quest 1 and 2 set to release in 2025.
