Apr 13, 2025 4:50 PM

EA has provided some insights into the upcoming Battlefield game, which will return to modern settings and traditional classes after the mixed reception of Battlefield 2042. The development focuses on community involvement through the Battlefield Labs initiative, although participants are required to sign an NDA. EA's global community manager has emphasized the importance of maintaining trust and transparency while addressing leak concerns. Despite some early positive buzz about new features, EA is cracking down on unauthorized sharing of information, stressing that details shared out of context can be misleading and damaging. The game is expected to be released before April 2026, although no specific name or date has been confirmed yet.

When will the next Battlefield game be released?

The next Battlefield game is expected to be released before April 2026, with further details about the release name still awaiting confirmation.

The Battlefield franchise has been a staple in the first-person shooter genre since its inception in 2002, gaining popularity for its large-scale multiplayer battles and strategic gameplay. Fans are eager to see how the reintroduction of classic elements like specialized classes and more focused maps will enhance their gaming experience.

Nice to see Battlefield going back to its roots—modern setting and classes could be a solid rebound after 2042’s rough launch. That said, NDAs always feel like a buzzkill, even if they’re necessary to keep hype from spiraling out of control. 2026 is a ways off, but if they nail the balance between fan feedback and creative vision, it might just be worth the wait. Just hope transparency isn’t just PR speak this time.

Glad to see EA doubling down on community feedback—hope they actually listen this time instead of just hyping up 'transparency.' Also, modern setting and classes Feels like they're playing it safe, but hey, sometimes back to basics is what a franchise needs. 2026 is a long wait, but if it means a polished game that doesn’t launch like 2042, I’ll take it. Just don’t let the NDAs stifle the hype too much—leaks are half the fun
