Finals patch 1.4.1 targets aim assist tweaks

Jan 11, 2024 2:53 PM

The Finals, a dynamic free-to-play FPS game, receives its first 2024 update targeting improvements in the aim assist feature, responding to feedback from its robust player community. Embark Studios, the team of former Battlefield developers behind The Finals, have announced patch 1.4.1 which introduces a series of changes to optimize fair play and address bugs related to the aim assist mechanics. The main adjustments include a maximum cap for zoom snapping angular velocity to prevent excessively rapid turns, reduction of camera magnetism and zoom snapping time, and the removal of zoom snapping on specific weapons such as the SR-84 Sniper Rifle and Shotguns. Additionally, invisible players will no longer be targeted by aim assist, and PC users with key re-mapping programs will be excluded from aim assist to maintain gameplay integrity.

Despite a rocky path with issues like AI voiceover controversy and cheating problems which have since been declared resolved, The Finals has sustained a significant player base. It's praised particularly for its environmental destruction capabilities. A more extensive update is expected to follow, promising major security improvements and new content additions.

What new content can players expect in the upcoming update for The Finals?

Embark Studios has teased a more substantial update set to follow the current patch, hinting at significant security enhancements and fresh content offerings to the game, although specific details on the new features have not been released yet.

The Finals is recognized for its innovation in the FPS genre, notably for its destructible environments and team-based PVP action. The game has a history of remarkable peak concurrent player counts on platforms like Steam, indicating a thriving community. This latest update is part of Embark Studios' ongoing efforts to fine-tune the gameplay experience and address community concerns, representing their active engagement with the player base to shape the game's future.
