Five former Ubisoft employees, including the company's ex-chief creative officer Serge Hascoët and his deputy, Tommy François, have been arrested by French police as part of an ongoing investigation into sexual misconduct within the company, according to French newspaper Libération. The two left Ubisoft in 2020 after allegations surfaced about a toxic workplace culture at the company.
In the following year, a French union and two victims sued the company for sexual harassment, prompting a police investigation. The recent arrests are part of this ongoing inquiry. The five arrested individuals were brought in for questioning at the police station. The identities of the remaining three former employees under arrest are currently unknown.
Other notable figures who left the company after the misconduct stories emerged include Ashraf Ismail, the creative director of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, head of HR Cécile Cornet, and creative director Maxime Béland.
