Feb 26, 2024 10:21 AM

Square Enix has hinted that further details regarding the future of the Bravely Default franchise will be unveiled later this year. Tomoya Asano, the series producer, announced the news in celebration of the three-year anniversary of Bravely Default 2's release. The role-playing game Bravely Default first launched on the Nintendo 3DS in 2012, with a sequel, Bravely Second, arriving in 2016. The latest installment, Bravely Default 2, was released for the Nintendo Switch in 2021 and follows a new set of characters across the continent of Excillant, which consists of five kingdoms. This entry's narrative is independent from the previous two games in the series.

What is the Bravely Default franchise?

The Bravely Default franchise is a series of role-playing games developed by Square Enix, known for its innovative turn-based combat system and engaging storytelling. The series began on the Nintendo 3DS with Bravely Default and has since included Bravely Second and Bravely Default 2, the latter of which is available on the Nintendo Switch.

Bravely Default games have garnered attention for blending traditional JRPG elements with modern gameplay mechanics, such as the 'Brave' and 'Default' system that allows players to take multiple actions in a single turn or opt to defend and rack up actions for subsequent turns. The series has been praised for its strategic depth, character development, and artistic direction. With the recent news, fans are eagerly anticipating the next chapter in this beloved RPG saga.
