Get hyped: 18+ minutes of Dragon's Dogma 2 gameplay revealed

Jan 04, 2024 8:58 AM

Fans eagerly anticipating the next chapter in the acclaimed Dragon's Dogma series can now glimpse over 18 minutes of gameplay for the upcoming Dragon's Dogma 2. Slated for release on March 22nd, the game is set to arrive on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam. This extensive gameplay preview showcases various professions including Thief, Fighter, Sorcerer, and Warrior. Dragon's Dogma 2 builds upon its predecessor's legacy, which initially launched in May 2012 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, later expanding with Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen and reaching multiple platforms like PC, PS4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch. Dragon's Dogma also inspired a seven-episode Netflix anime series in 2020. Director Hideaki Itsuno has emphasized the sequel's 'pawns' system—AI companions aiding players in combat to mimic a cooperative multiplayer experience, though the game remains a single-player experience.

When is Dragon's Dogma 2 releasing and on what platforms?

Dragon's Dogma 2 is set to release on March 22nd for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam.

Background: The original Dragon's Dogma, developed and published by Capcom, offered a unique blend of action RPG elements with an emphasis on real-time combat and "pawn" companions. It gained a passionate fanbase due to its vast open world and innovative pawn system, where players could recruit AI-controlled allies and share them online with other players. These pawns would learn from their experiences in other players' games, bringing back knowledge and loot to the original player. The expanded edition, Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, introduced additional content including new quests, equipment, and an entire new area to explore. As a new entry in the series, Dragon's Dogma 2 is expected to expand upon these features while delivering an improved single-player experience reminiscent of cooperative play.
