Housemarque, the video game developer known for the creation of Returnal, has announced that they plan to relocate to a brand-new office by the end of 2024. The announcement was made by director Mikael Haveri, who described the new headquarters, located in Finland's capital, Helsinki, as "the most advanced game headquarters in Scandinavia."
The exact date of the move is yet to be confirmed, but one thing Haveri is certain about is their vision for their new premises. Beyond just serving as a nod to their rich gaming history, the new facility also symbolizes the company's mission to strengthen its position as a leader in gameplay innovation.
"The facility will not only be a testimony to our rich gaming history but also a beacon of innovation and creativity," explained an enthusiastic Haveri. The developer's most recent release, Returnal, was positively received, with reviewer Marcel Vroegrijk giving the PlayStation 5 version of the game an 8 out of 10 score on Gamer.nl.
Described as part bullet-hell shooter, part roguelike, and part blockbuster game, Returnal gives players the challenging yet unforgettable experience of trying to survive on a strange planet filled with violent creatures.
Currently, Housemarque is working on a new IP, though details about this are yet to be made public.
