Insomniac Games has confirmed that their upcoming Wolverine game will exist in the same universe as Spider-Man 2. This speculation has long been in the minds of fans since Insomniac announced they were working on a Wolverine game for PlayStation. The original teaser for the game had subtle hints, one of which was a "1048" nod, pointing to the games being in the same universe.

Spider-Man 2 director Bryan Intihar confirmed this during an interview with Kinda Funny. He stated that both games exist in the same world and are all "1048". Spider-Man 2 was previously confirmed to be universe 1048 in Across the Spider-verse, indicating that Wolverine could potentially be tied into Spider-Man's ongoing story.

However, Intihar mentioned that while they are true Marvel fans and they discuss these points, the Wolverine team was left to work freely. They did not want to restrict their creativity or influence the game's development. Overall, Intihar emphasized creating the best possible Wolverine game, eagerly awaiting its completion.

Marvel's Wolverine was first announced in 2021 with a brief teaser trailer. The game promises "cutting-edge gameplay" and an "emotional narrative" but a release date is not yet revealed.

In the meantime, Spider-Man 2 has seen substantial success for Insomniac and Sony, with more than 2.5 million copies sold in 24 hours.
