Microsoft unveils June 2024 Xbox Game Pass lineup

Microsoft has announced the first wave of Xbox Game Pass games for June 2024, featuring the Octopath Traveler series and The Callisto Protocol. Octopath Traveler and Octopath Traveler 2 are now available, with the latter launching on Xbox for the first time. Review scores from IGN highlight the strengths and weaknesses of these JRPGs. Additional titles joining Game Pass this month include the tabletop RPG Depersonalization, the WWI shooter Isonzo, and the horror game Still Wakes the Deep, a day-one release. Moreover, the Xbox showcase on June 9 is expected to reveal new titles, possibly more Game Pass additions.

Games leaving Xbox Game Pass on June 15, 2024, include Bramble: The Mountain King, High on Life, Rune Factory 4 Special, Spacelines from the Far Out, and The Bookwalker.

Octopath Traveler is notable for its unique 2D-HD visual style and its nostalgic take on traditional turn-based JRPG mechanics. Developed by Square Enix, the game features eight distinct characters, each with their own storylines and abilities. Octopath Traveler 2 continues this approach but was critiqued for sticking too closely to the formula of its predecessor. Both games have garnered significant attention for their artistic presentation and deep gameplay mechanics.
