Netflix reveals shocking reason for not bundling with Disney Plus

Jul 18, 2024 9:04 PM

Netflix has announced that it will not directly bundle its streaming service with other popular platforms like Disney+ or Max. In a message to shareholders, Netflix emphasized that its comprehensive entertainment offerings and exceptional user experience have led to industry-leading success, making direct bundles unnecessary. While third-party operators might include Netflix in combined packages, Netflix prefers to remain independent to maintain its growth and user engagement. This decision aligns with Netflix’s continued subscriber increase, achieving 8 million new subs in Q2, totaling 277.65 million globally. The company cautions that it might see a decline in new paid subscriptions next quarter.

Why doesn't Netflix bundle its service with Disney+ or Max?n

Netflix believes that its extensive content variety and top-notch product experience already make it a go-to destination for viewers. Directly bundling with other streamers would not provide significant additional benefits, as it has already achieved high penetration, engagement, and retention on its own.

Netflix has established itself as a major player in the streaming industry since its inception. Its strategy of partnering with device makers, pay TV, and mobile operators has paid off, helping it grow its user base substantially. Despite the success of other bundled services, Netflix’s unique position as a leader in content and user experience reinforces its decision to remain unbundled directly with other platforms.

Netflix's choice to stay independent highlights their confidence in their content library and user experience—can't argue with 277.65 million global subs It's a bold move that could keep them ahead of the curve while others scramble for bundles.

Netflix sticking to its guns and staying out of direct bundles with other streaming giants like Disney+ and Max makes sense. With its massive subscriber base and self-sustained success, it doesn't really need to hitch a ride with anyone else to keep growing.

Netflix sticking to its guns by staying independent in the streaming wars definitely shows confidence in their robust content library and user experience. It's a bold move, but with 8 million new subs in Q2 alone, it's clear that viewers are heavily invested in what they offer on their own.
