The announcement also revealed that the film will feature newcomer Maia Kealoha as Lilo, with Chris Sanders returning to voice Stitch. Directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, the adaptation is expected to follow the story of the 2002 animated original, which focuses on Lilo, a young girl who adopts the alien Stitch, known initially as Experiment 626. The film will face stiff competition, opening alongside high-profile releases like Mission: Impossible 8 and the new Karate Kid film.
In addition, Disney has scheduled a sequel to Freaky Friday, which will star Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis, landing in theaters on August 8, 2025. The live-action Lilo & Stitch will utilize CGI for Stitch, a first look at which was previewed during a recent event.
