New shooter XDefiant hit by cheaters just 2 days after launch

May 23, 2024 11:46 AM

XDefiant, Ubisoft's new free-to-play FPS, has only been out for a day but is already facing issues with cheaters using wall hacks and aimbots. Despite this, the majority of players are not affected, and Ubisoft employs BattleEye anti-cheat software to combat such exploits. Yet, due to its free-to-play nature, banned users can easily create new accounts to rejoin the game. Players are encouraged to report any cheaters they encounter to help maintain a fair in-game environment.

How can players deal with cheaters in XDefiant?

Players encountering cheaters in XDefiant should report them using the in-game reporting system. This helps Ubisoft identify and ban offending accounts, although the game’s free-to-play nature means cheaters might return with new accounts.

XDefiant, resembling classic FPS games like Modern Warfare 2, blends fast-paced arcade action with modern gameplay mechanics. Despite the cheating issues, the game has been well-received for its nostalgic appeal and engaging short-session gameplay. BattleEye, the anti-cheat system used, is also employed in games like Rainbow Six: Siege and Escape from Tarkov, both of which have faced similar cheating challenges.

It's a bummer that cheaters are already causing trouble in XDefiant, but it's cool to see the community rallying with reports and Ubisoft stepping up with BattleEye. The game's nostalgic vibes and fast-paced action definitely make it worth sticking through the initial growing pains.
