New Terminator 2 Game Reunites Actor for Authentic Experience
Jun 18, 2025 9:27 AMThe upcoming retro video game, Terminator 2D: No Fate, is set to launch in September and is based on the iconic film Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Players will encounter beloved characters like John Connor, Sarah Connor, T-1000, and T-800. However, the game will notably lack Arnold Schwarzenegger's likeness due to licensing issues. The publisher, Reef Entertainment, clarified that while they secured rights for the film's characters, Arnie's image rights were not included. To compensate, they reached out to Michael Edwards, who briefly portrayed future war John Connor in T2, for his likeness in the game. This retro title aims to expand upon significant scenes from the film, focusing on the battle against machines.
Why doesn’t Terminator 2D: No Fate feature Arnold Schwarzenegger’s likeness?Terminator 2D: No Fate doesn't feature Arnold Schwarzenegger’s likeness because the licensing agreement secured by Reef Entertainment only covers the characters and not his image directly. As a result, the game utilizes the endoskeleton representation of the T-800 instead.
The Terminator franchise began with the original film in 1984 and became a cultural phenomenon, particularly with the sequel released in 1991. This franchise introduced groundbreaking special effects and has remained a staple of science fiction cinema. The new game seeks to honor the legacy of the films while appealing to both nostalgic fans and new players. The integration of characters like John and Sarah Connor provides a deeper immersion into the story and conflicts explored in the original films.
