Cities Skylines 2, developed by Colossal Order and launched recently on Steam, has started addressing post-launch performance improvement plans with a new patch release
The game was successful on Steam hitting over 100,000 concurrent players and topping the best-sellers chart, however the launch was tainted by performance issues, resulting in a 'mixed' user review rating of 53% on Valve's platform
Prior to its release, Colossal Order had warned performance could potentially cause issues and aimed the game to run at 30 frames per second, even on powerful PCs
Patch 1.0.11f1 is the first in a series of several patches aimed at improving performance in Cities Skylines 2, addressing a number of performance and stability issues
The developer team is actively working on subsequent fixes and performance improvements
For improving gameplay experience in Cities Skylines 2, the developer recommended reducing screen resolution to 1080p, disabling Depth of Field and Volumetrics, reducing Global Illumination and provided a guide to improve the game's performance
