Sony recently announced exciting news for PlayStation owners. To make PlayStation Plus more attractive to subscribers, Sony will now allow certain subscription members to enjoy an entire catalog of ad-free movies on their PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
This new feature comes with a rebranding of Sony's movie service, Bravia Core, which will now be called Sony Pictures Core. Initially, Bravia Core was only available on Bravia TVs and selected Experia devices when it came out in 2021. However, it's now collaborating with the PlayStation, offering PS4 and PS5 users to purchase or rent up to 2,000 movies to watch directly on their consoles. This includes fan favorites like the Spider-Man series, Uncharted, The Equalizer, No Hard Feelings, Bullet Train, and Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
Not only will PlayStation Plus Premium and Deluxe members access this vast movie catalog, but they will also enjoy an extra perk - selective early access to certain Sony Pictures films. For instance, "Gran Turismo: Based on a True Story" is currently available in markets like the UK, France, Germany, Japan, the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
Interestingly, the partnership will also provide PlayStation Plus Premium and Deluxe members access to up to 100 ad-free movies via the Sony Pictures Core app, with the film offering frequently updated. Subscribers will have access to films like Resident Evil Damnation, Elysium, and Kingsguard: Final Fantasy 15.
Sony also teased that it would be adding more offerings and perks to the Sony Pictures Core. This includes anime content from Crunchyroll, a streaming service purchased by Sony in late 2020, and additional benefits for all PlayStation Plus members to be revealed at a later date.
The Sony Pictures Core app is now available globally across 23 markets. PlayStation 5 owners can download it from the Media section, while PlayStation 4 owners need to check the PS Store for the download.
