Randy Pitchford: GTA 6 Not Behind Borderlands 4 Delay

Apr 30, 2025 10:52 AM

Gearbox has officially moved up the release date for Borderlands 4 to September 12, 2025, a decision clarified by Randy Pitchford as unrelated to the upcoming GTA 6. This change reflects the studio's confidence in their development process, rather than strategic planning around another game’s launch. Fans can expect to hear more about Borderlands 4 during an upcoming State of Play presentation, where new features and characters will be revealed. PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC users can look forward to the introduction of four new Vault Hunters and a new enemy faction known as the Rippers.

What new features can players expect in Borderlands 4?

Borderlands 4 promises to deliver four new Vault Hunters and a fresh enemy group called the Rippers, along with improved gameplay mechanics and an immersive open-world experience.

Borderlands is a popular looter-shooter franchise known for its unique blend of humor, action, and RPG elements. The series has garnered a dedicated fanbase since the original game released in 2009, with its distinctive cel-shaded art style and diverse character classes. With each installment, Gearbox has expanded the universe significantly, making Borderlands 4 one of the most anticipated games of 2025.

Stoked to see Borderlands 4 dropping sooner—four new Vault Hunters and the Rippers sound like the perfect recipe for mayhem. Can’t wait to see how Gearbox spices up the looter-shooter formula with those improved gameplay mechanics they’re teasing.

Nice to see Gearbox sticking to their guns and dropping BL4 when it's ready, not just dodging the GTA 6 hype train. Those Rippers better bring some fresh chaos to the Borderlands formula though
