Heads up, players of Counter-Strike 2! The game now imposes strict penalties for leaving mid-match in ranked games, even when it's not your fault.
If you finish your 10 placement matches and win a ranked game against players similar to you in skill, you can earn about 100 ranked points. But watch out - leaving a game for any reason can cost you a whopping 1,000 points. To get back to your initial standing, you'd need to secure victory in around ten games.
While punishing people who leave competitive matches could be seen as good, it's not so great when players can be kicked out or face technical issues like game crashes. Sadly, even if players face unexpected disconnects and can't reconnect on time, they're stuck with the harsh penalty.
Moreover, your team can vote to boot you if they deem you unhelpful or harmful. This could be harsh if you're playing solo and are matched with a four-player team who, for a laugh, decide to kick you out even when you're following the rules.
Understandably, players aren't happy and have been venting online about these unjust penalties. Some even referred to it as a "complete joke" and a "clown-queue".
Despite these issues, Counter-Strike 2 remains popular, drawing many fans back to its tactical gameplay and amazing visual improvements. However, some mourn the changes from the original Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. What do you think about these leaver penalties? Fair or should they dial it down? Share your opinions!
