Sinking City 2's Gameplay Trailer Drops, Smashes Funding Goal

Mar 07, 2025 12:53 AM

Frogwares has launched its highly anticipated Kickstarter campaign for The Sinking City 2, achieving its crowdfunding goal in less than a day with over £140K raised. This sequel, set in the Lovecraftian universe, shifts the gameplay focus towards survival horror rather than deduction, introducing a new standalone story with different characters and environments. Players will explore Arkham's flooded streets and crumbling structures while engaging in combat and exploration, which are emphasized as core mechanics. While investigation elements remain, they are now optional yet beneficial for uncovering gameplay bonuses. The game, built on Unreal Engine 5, features a smaller, more concentrated map that players can explore both on foot and by boat. The release is planned for later this year on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

What is the release date for The Sinking City 2?

The exact release date has not yet been announced, but Frogwares is aiming for a launch later this year.

The Sinking City is a narrative-driven game known for its rich exploration of Lovecraftian horror and psychological themes. The original game released in 2019 received praise for its atmosphere and storytelling, making this sequel an exciting continuation of that legacy. Frogwares, a studio based in Ukraine, has used crowdfunding successfully before, such as for their 2023 title Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened, showcasing their adaptability in developing engaging games even amid challenging circumstances.
