Sony reportedly declined a sequel to the PlayStation 4 title The Order: 1886 due to its unfavorable critical reception, as revealed by Ready at Dawn co-founder Andrea Pessino. Pessino expressed that they had pitched an exceptional sequel but acknowledged that the challenging relationship with Sony during the original's development contributed to the decision to not pursue a follow-up. Pessino also shared that while they were eager to continue the franchise, the circumstances made it difficult to negotiate favorable terms.

The Order: 1886 is a third-person action-adventure game set in an alternate history combining Victorian-era London with supernatural elements, including werewolves. Celebrated for its stunning graphics, the game attracted attention but struggled with gameplay freedom and narrative depth, leading to a divided reception from players and critics alike. Set on a cliffhanger, fans have been left yearning for a follow-up that was never realized, especially after the studio's closure in 2024.
