State of Decay 3 is back after 4 years and it's looking rad

State of Decay 3 has resurfaced after a four-year break with a new trailer at the Xbox Games Showcase. Originally announced in 2020, the game had only a CG trailer until now. Developer Undead Labs showcased gameplay and provided a 2025 release window. The reveal wasn't entirely surprising, as hints had been dropped prior. Microsoft Studios head Matt Booty hinted at the game's development back in 2018 after acquiring Undead Labs. State of Decay 2 had a mixed reaction upon release, highlighting the risks of permadeath and numerous bugs.

State of Decay 3 is currently set to release in 2025.
