DC Studios' upcoming "Superman: Legacy" is setting high expectations with its star-studded cast, including María Gabriela De Faría as The Engineer, a notable character from the Authority comic series. With James Gunn at the helm, "Superman: Legacy" will also feature David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho.

Gunn, who is not only writing but also directing the film, expressed his excitement about De Faría's casting. The film is notable for not being an origin story or focusing on a young Superman but will explore the superhero’s balance between his Kryptonian heritage and his upbringing in Kansas. This movie will launch the first chapter of the new DC Universe, titled "Gods and Monsters," which includes a line-up of five films and five TV shows.

Despite previous confusion around Henry Cavill’s involvement, he will not reprise his role as Superman. "Superman: Legacy" is currently in pre-production and slated for a July 11, 2025 release. Gunn aims for a PG-13 rating and promises a fresh take on the character, different from his work with Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy."

As fans await more details about "Superman: Legacy," excitement builds for what seems to be a revitalizing chapter for DC's cinematic efforts.
