Arkane Studios has finally launched the much-anticipated patch for Redfall that significantly boosts the game's frame rate to 60 fps on Xbox Series. Prior to the game's release, it was announced that the game would initially run at only 30 fps on Xbox, but a post-release update would then allow it to run at 60 fps.
Although the game received a lukewarm reception upon launch, with players fearing the touted frame rate patch might never see the light of day, their fears have now been quashed with its release. Players can access this newly improved game mode after downloading the patch.
This update also implements several new gameplay options, including fresh stealth takedowns and an increase in the number of enemies in the game world. In addition, there are new accessibility options. You can find the full patch notes here.
Last month, Bethesda's senior Pete Hines reassured gamers of their unwavering commitment to transform Redfall into a fully enjoyable game. He also cited the example of Fallout 76, whose disappointing initial performance didn't deter the company's sustained commitment—and improvement efforts—towards the game.
He conveyed their willingness to improve, learn, and never abandon a game merely because of a challenging start. Hines said, "We will achieve that 60 frames per second [goal]. We will turn [Redfall] into a good game, because as a first-party studio, the Game Pass lives forever. Redfall will be present on Game Pass even ten years later, when new people join."
In his review, Lars Cornelis rated the game a mediocre 5, citing the game didn't meet Arkane Studios' established high standards—it was technologically subpar and felt clumsily constructed with limited elements of intrigue. The game did, however, feature adequate shooting and a few interesting weapons.
