Upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 update introduces functioning metro station
Dec 02, 2023 8:45 AMGamers anticipating new features in Cyberpunk 2077 will be thrilled to hear that the upcoming update 2.1 will introduce a fully functional metro system to Night City. Scheduled to release alongside the Ultimate Edition on Tuesday, this update brings tangible improvements and added gameplay mechanics to the immersive RPG.
Players will be able to access nineteen metro stations throughout Night City, using them as fast travel points or actually riding the metro lines across five routes for a more authentic experience with the option to skip travel at any time. However, the metro system becomes available only after progressing past the Konpeki Plaza section of the game.
Additionally, the update enhances the game's soundtrack access, now allowing players to carry a radio and listen to music outside of vehicles, except during narrative dialogues or scripted music sections. It also tweaks boss fights, including the battle with Adam Smasher, and enriches the game's vehicle roster with new additions such as five motorcycles and Johnny Silverhand's Porsche 911.
More content changes and performance improvements are expected to be detailed in the patch notes. The Ultimate Edition, on the other hand, compiles the original game with all the latest updates and the Phantom Liberty expansion that debuted on September 25.
In separate news, CD Projekt Red also announced that the majority of their studio is currently working on the next-gen The Witcher game, codenamed Project Polaris, which is expected to kickstart a new trilogy and be developed using Unreal Engine 5. The studio aims to release this trilogy within six years of the first game's launch, indicating an ambitious roadmap for the future of the series.
This update underlines CD Projekt Red's commitment to improving Cyberpunk 2077 past its controversial launch, promising to enhance the overall gameplay experience, and offering a glimpse into the ambitious future of their flagship franchises.

Pretty slick move by CDPR, dropping a fully fleshed-out metro system into Cyberpunk 2077โit's like Night City's getting its own fast lane that makes the immersion highway even more scenic. Looks like they're showing the gaming world how a rocky start doesn't mean game over, and with their sights set on that Witcher trilogy, they're just shifting gears into high fantasy overdrive.

Cyberpunk 2077's new metro system in update 2.1 is a smart play, adding another layer of depth to Night City and giving players even more reason to dive back in. It's clear CD Projekt Red is doubling down on enriching the game's world while also setting the stage for the broader future with their ambitious plans for the next-gen Witcher series.

CD Projekt Red's rollout of Cyberpunk 2077's update 2.1 shows they're not just tinkering under the hood but going full 'choomba' on giving Night City some real street cred with that metro system. With all the enhancements and the Phantom Liberty expansion bundled in the Ultimate Edition, it seems like they're really hitting the gas on redemption road. ๐๐ฎ
