Update for Mortal Kombat 1 on Nintendo Switch Enhances Graphics

Oct 12, 2023 11:54 AM
The Nintendo Switch version of the popular game Mortal Kombat 1 has received its first update since launch. This update comes in response to a barrage of criticism the game faced because of its low-quality visuals. As a result, Ed Boon, the head of NetherRealm development, pledged to enhance the game's quality. Originally, the game had an IGN rating of 8/10. However, after its port by Shiver Entertainment and Saber Interactive for the Nintendo Switch, the rating plummeted to 3/10. Critics pointed out that the game was too challenging for the Switch's older hardware, leading to long load times, several bugs affecting graphics and gameplay, and generally creating an annoying gaming experience. The update seeks to resolve many of these issues, introducing Season 1 of Invasions mode, which was conspicuously absent in the Nintendo Switch version at launch, leading to complaints. The update promises gameplay balance changes, visual improvements, general bug fixes, performance enhancements, better loading times, leaderboard repairs, and localization fixes. Fans are still analyzing whether this patch makes a substantial difference. Initial feedback on the Nintendo Switch subreddit indicated a more stable framerate post-update. Ed Boon has hinted at upcoming news for Mortal Kombat 1 at the New York Comic-Con, although he has dismissed speculation around a gameplay reveal for the expected DLC character Omni-Man.
