Disney develops film based on 99 Nights in the Forest

Disney's 20th Century Studios has announced that it is developing a film based on 99 Nights in the Forest, one of the most popular games on Roblox. The news follows a competitive deal in which 20th Century secured the film rights, although the other bidders have not been revealed and no information about the cost has been shared.

99 Nights in the Forest, developed by Grandma's Favourite Games, launched in March 2025. Since release, the game has received more than 25.9 billion visits, highlighting its massive popularity within the Roblox community. On 14 April 2026, there were more than 174,000 concurrent players, with a peak of 14.2 million concurrent players, placing the game in the top three of the platform's peak player rankings.

Gameplay and theme

99 Nights in the Forest is all about survival. Players try to survive for 99 nights in a haunted forest while fighting monsters and attempting to rescue missing children. The mix of horror and adventure makes the game unique and appealing to a wide audience.
