The upcoming remake, Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, has become a hot topic among franchise fans. New features

One of the most notable additions in Resynced is the ability for players to fully turn off the HUD (Heads-Up Display). This option can be toggled with the press of a button, giving players a more immersive experience without icons and on-screen prompts getting in the way. It's a welcome improvement that makes it easier to enjoy the game's beautiful open world, which is part of Black Flag's charm.

Players can also now raise or lower main character Edward Kenway's hood at will. This adds another layer of customization that was previously limited to specific in-game situations. With these improvements, Ubisoft is clearly aiming for a more interactive and polished gameplay experience.

Story and gameplay changes

The remake also promises new content, with six to seven hours of additional storylines added to the original plot. However, these changes have raised concerns, especially regarding Edward Kenway's characterization. In the original game, he was portrayed as selfish and arrogant, a trait that was essential to his development. In Resynced, though, he appears to take on a much more altruistic attitude early on and shows support for the Assassins, which some fans see as a distortion of his character.

There has also been criticism of the animations in the new cutscenes, which can sometimes feel stiff and emotionless compared with the dynamic scenes in the original game. That could lessen the impact of the new story content, even if the intention was to improve it.

Gameplay in the preview

A roughly three-hour preview of the game has left mixed impressions, with the full breadth of the gameplay not yet on display. There are concerns about technical bugs and glitches disrupting the experience and making the gameplay feel less smooth. The previews also suggest that the combat systems may not have been improved, and that new moves such as the kick and sweep are not always properly recognized by the game.
