Better Than Dead: release date and Early Access details

Developer Monte Gallo has announced a release date for the bodycam FPS Better Than Dead. Set in atmospheric Hong Kong, the game will launch in Early Access on Steam on May 12, 2026. This phase is intended to improve and expand the game based on player feedback.

The Early Access version will include a full campaign, giving players plenty to dive into from day one. The developer estimates the Early Access period will last between 6 and 12 months. During that time, Monte Gallo will actively work on improvements based on player responses.

After the Early Access phase, Better Than Dead will be expanded with a hardcore mode called 'For Heaven'. Additional levels will also be added, along with the 'true ending' that will only be available once the game has fully launched. The game’s setup is inspired by the stylish Hong Kong action thrillers of directors such as John Woo and Yuen Woo-ping, promising a distinctive atmosphere and gameplay style.
