Bloober Team expands: new titles and future plans

Bloober Team, the developer behind the Silent Hill 2 remake, recently announced that it is expanding its leadership while working on multiple projects. The move reflects a strategic shift as the company transitions into a multi-project structure.

New projects in development

With the growing popularity of games like Silent Hill 2, planned for 2024, and Cronos: The New Dawn, due in 2025, Bloober Team has further strengthened its focus on horror games. The studio is not only working on the Silent Hill remake, but has also announced two first-party single-player horror games in development, plus five additional titles being co-developed.

Among the new announcements is also a Nintendo-exclusive title tied to the Layers of Fear series, which is expected to arrive this year. In addition, Bloober is working with Konami on a remake of the original Silent Hill, further raising expectations around the studio.

Leadership expansion

To support this growth, Bloober Team recently appointed three new leaders. Thaine Lyman, a veteran of Activision and Wargaming, is now head of the studio. Katya Baukova, with experience at Techland and CD Projekt, takes on the role of director of business development. And Michał Gembicki, who previously worked at Klabater SA and CD Projekt, has been appointed head of publishing.

CEO Piotr Babieno acknowledged that this leadership expansion is necessary for the studio’s survival in the competitive games industry. He stressed that this is not just about growth for the numbers, but about building a sustainable pipeline of quality titles without flooding the market with releases. That leads to a focused approach: prioritizing two first-party games for a successful production line while also managing the co-development of multiple titles.

Future possibilities

Gradually, Bloober Team appears to be firmly positioning itself in the horror game market, and with the successful launch of Silent Hill 2 in 2024, there are opportunities for the studio to grow further. Babieno has speculated about the potential for a Cronos sequel, which could point to a long-term commitment to these franchises.

This strategy could also extend to other projects, as Bloober’s focus shifts increasingly from standalone titles to a diverse portfolio of high-quality games, reducing the risks of relying on a single revenue source.
