Bungie shared an official update on September 21, 2026, about the studio’s future. In a post on X and a page on Bungie.net, the company said it wants to say more about Destiny, Marathon, and how it works internally. In that communication, Bungie stressed that Destiny remains a core part of the studio’s future.

According to reporting from Kotaku, Bungie wants to bring back vaulted Destiny 2 content. That includes the Red War campaign, which launched with Destiny 2 in 2017. Game Rant also reports that Bungie is working on restoring vaulted campaigns, destinations, and raids, although it is still unclear which pieces will return first or in what order.

In the same update, Bungie also acknowledged that player trust has been damaged over the past few years and that the studio has partly lost focus on what players cared about. Background

Bungie has used Destiny 2’s Content Vault system for years to remove older storylines, activities, and destinations from the live game.
