Capcom posts record profits thanks to Resident Evil Requiem

Capcom has posted record profits again in 2026, marking the ninth year in a row. Much of that success is thanks to the popular games Resident Evil Requiem and Pragmata, both of which gave the company’s digital content sales a major boost.

Financial overview

In the fiscal year ending March 2026, digital content sales rose 15.2 percent year over year to ¥144.2 billion (around $914 million). A total of 59.07 million units were sold, an increase of more than 7.1 million units compared with the previous year.

Resident Evil Requiem

The latest entry in the Resident Evil franchise, Resident Evil Requiem, launched in February 2026 and received critical acclaim. The game has become the fastest-selling title in the series, with more than 7 million copies sold since release. That milestone was reached in April 2026, just a few months after launch.

Future expectations

Capcom expects net sales of ¥210 billion ($1.3 billion) for the next fiscal year, up 7.5 percent. It is also forecasting net income of ¥58 billion ($367.5 million). That would mark a tenth straight year of record profits across all levels, and 12 consecutive years of operating profit growth of 10 percent or more.

DLC and new projects

While details on future releases are still limited, Capcom has said a new story expansion for Resident Evil Requiem is in development. It will further explore the world of Requiem and expand the characters’ adventures. Capcom also celebrated the success of Pragmata, which launched in April 2026 and was similarly well received.

Capcom’s future looks bright, and its strategy now appears to focus on continuing popular franchises like Resident Evil while also exploring new titles such as Pragmata.
