A new crossover film based on the Django/Zorro comic book, co-written by Quentin Tarantino and Matt Wagner, is in development at Sony. History of the characters
The film is expected to follow the story laid out in the original comic. The main character Django, a freed slave, was introduced in the film Django Unchained, which released in 2012. In that film, set in 1858, Django is on a mission to rescue his wife Broomhilda, played by Kerry Washington.
Zorro, on the other hand, traces his origins back to the early 1910s and first appeared in several films not long after his creation. The most recognizable film version of Zorro is The Mask of Zorro from 1998, starring Antonio Banderas. Django and Zorro first crossed paths in the Django/Zorro comic in 2014.
