Factorio: last major update announced after a decade

Factorio, the influential strategy game developed by Wube Software, has announced its final major update, according to a developer blog post. The game, which centers on building and creating automated factories, launched in early access on Steam in February 2016 before fully releasing in August 2020.

Specifically, no new planets, enemies, or research trees will be introduced. The Wube team is currently running a closed beta test, with an experimental release planned for the end of June. After that, the focus will shift to bug fixing before the team heads off on vacation in July.

Wube Software has announced that after this update, it will focus on long-term support, meaning there will still be updates for bug fixes, platform support, and modding features, but no new major content will be added.
