Final Fantasy 14: patch 7.5 and future updates

Square Enix has rolled out a patch for Final Fantasy 14, along with an extensive list of hotfixes following the recent release of Patch 7.5, titled 'Trail to the Heavens'. The patch, which went live worldwide on 7 May 2026, includes important improvements and fixes for issues players had been experiencing.

Patch 7.5 not only introduces new main story content, but also adds a new alliance raid. This is the first of four major updates Square Enix plans to release throughout spring and summer 2026. Patch 7.5 also lays the groundwork for future battle content and features players can expect in the upcoming expansion, 'Final Fantasy 14: Evercold', which is scheduled to launch in January 2027.

Hotfixes and improvements

The newly released hotfixes are aimed at addressing a range of bugs, including accessibility issues and quest progression problems. One of the main issues involved the alliance raid Windurst: The Third Walk, where an arena change was made after reports of motion sickness and disorientation during the fight against the third boss, Promathia. The hotfixes were pushed out in full a few days after Patch 7.5 launched.

Critical bugs and translation issues

One of the major bugs fixed in this hotfix involved the Hildibrand questline, specifically during the quest 'Meteorites and Meteor-wrongs', which prevented players from progressing after the final cutscene played. Translation issues were also resolved, with some NPC dialogue appearing in Japanese instead of English. For dedicated Final Fantasy 14 players, it is important that these technical issues continue to be addressed.

Future content and events

For the upcoming expansion 'Final Fantasy 14: Evercold', set to launch in January 2027, players can expect more information to be shared during the Berlin and Tokyo FanFest events. These events are also expected to reveal details about new battle content and features.
