He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction delayed

The release of the long-awaited game He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction has been delayed. Originally planned for April 28, 2026, fans will now have to wait until summer 2026 to dive into the adventure. Developer Bitmap Bureau needs more time to polish the game, which is being published by Limited Run Games.

Announcement and development

The game was first announced in August 2025 and promises a retro, side-scrolling beat ’em up adventure. The story centers on Skeletor, who summons an ancient threat to Eternia through a ritual.

Gameplay and features

Players can get to work with several iconic characters from the He-Man universe, including He-Man, Teela, and Man-at-Arms. There is also a chance to unlock She-Ra as a playable character. The game includes 12 different levels inspired by locations from the popular animated series.

Alongside the heroes, Skeletor brings a roster of familiar villains, including Evil-Lyn, Trap Jaw, and Beast Man. Players can also use Battle Cat as a mount to charge through enemies.

Impact of the delay

Pushing the release to summer 2026 means the game will no longer line up with Masters of the Universe Day, first celebrated in 1987. Still, the development team says it is in the final stretch and fans can expect a product worthy of the franchise’s nostalgia.

With a live-action Masters of the Universe movie reboot set to hit theaters on June 5, the delayed game release could actually work in its favor, as both media may boost each other’s appeal.

The digital version of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction will be available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
