Helldivers 2 receives major patch for performance and new features

Arrowhead has released a new patch for Helldivers 2 focused on long-awaited performance improvements. Patch 6.2.5, published on 29 May 2026, adds several advanced technologies and features designed to help players stay focused during chaotic battles.

Patch details

Among other things, the patch introduces support for upscaling technologies. This means the game now uses FSR 3.1.5, DLSS 4.5, and XeSS 3.0. These techniques are designed to improve image quality while reducing the load on the graphics processor. With the addition of Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) for PS5 and PS5 Pro, players can expect a smoother experience, especially during intense action scenes.

Support has also been added for Variable Rate Shading (VRS) on compatible devices, which can help improve performance by reducing shading in specific areas. Other performance improvements have also been made, including fixes for rendering issues and overall image quality improvements across the game.

Bug fixes and improvements

The patch also fixes an issue where players were unable to manually climb small obstacles and ledges without the automatic climb function. This fix is intended to make it easier for players to navigate the game world without problems.

Mikael Eriksson, the game director of Helldivers 2, previously said the game is a perfect fit for crossovers, and that the team is hugely enthusiastic about Warhammer 40,000. This is also reflected in the announcement that a Warhammer 40,000 Legendary Warbond will be added later this year, representing one of the most requested crossovers for the title.
