Helldivers 2 gets a Warhammer 40,000 Legendary Warbond

Helldivers 2, the co-op shooter developed by Arrowhead Game Studios, has announced that it will be getting a Warhammer 40,000 Legendary Warbond. This long-awaited crossover between the popular game and Games Workshop’s grimdark universe was revealed during the Warhammer Skulls presentation. Mikael Eriksson, the director of Helldivers 2, confirmed the collaboration and described it as a perfect match between the two worlds.

Following player frustration in 2025, including technical and performance issues, Arrowhead has decided to proactively improve communication with the community. This includes avoiding hidden changes in updates and improving rewards in the Galactic War. Arrowhead said it is focusing on player feedback to optimize the game experience.

The crossover with Warhammer 40,000

The upcoming crossover will involve the Astra Militarum, the regular human army from the Warhammer 40,000 universe, rather than the better-known Space Marines. This fits Helldivers’ theme, where ordinary soldiers are sacrificed in a war against alien threats. Eriksson said the collaboration between the worlds of Helldivers and Warhammer 40K offers a huge opportunity for exciting new gameplay elements.

Gameplay improves with new features

In addition to the upcoming Warhammer content, Arrowhead is working on several major gameplay improvements for Helldivers 2, which will roll out on May 27. These updates focus on better game stability, reduced latency, and more consistent performance during intense gameplay moments.

Arrowhead has also announced a partnership with Nixxes to optimize the game’s technical side, including visual upgrades for all platforms and support for technologies such as NVIDIA Reflex and AMD Anti-Lag to reduce stuttering and screen tearing.
