Industria 2: developers disappointed by positive reviews

The sequel to the atmospheric shooter Industria, titled Industria 2, launched on Steam on May 1, 2026. After spending most of four years in development, the team behind the game, Bleakmill, says the response so far has been disappointing. The game currently holds a positive rating of just 48% on Steam, which is causing major concern for the developers.

The road to release

Industria 2 was officially announced in 2024, following growing interest in the series after the success of the first game, which was released in 2021. The original Industria received solid reviews and appeared to sell well, raising expectations for the sequel. Industria 2’s trailers, which featured elements reminiscent of well-known titles such as Half-Life and SOMA, sparked excitement among a group of loyal fans.

The developers’ disappointment

After launch, the team voiced its frustration on social media, saying: "It hurts to be sitting at 48% positive reviews after putting our hearts and souls into this game." Despite the disappointment, the developers described the negative reviews as "fair" and said they are working to push out patches quickly to improve the game’s stability.

In the first 48 hours after launch, the developers already released two patches to address save issues and crashes. They have promised to focus on stability problems and keybinding updates, while also planning future content updates.

Criticism and comparisons to the predecessor

Players have called the sequel "half-baked" and "unfinished," with accusations that publisher Headup Games pressured the developers to rush the game. The first game was also published by Headup, but was sold by Thunderful Group and Microcuts Holding in 2024. That context has added to concerns about Industria 2’s development.

The parallels between the reception of both games are striking; while Industria 1 received positive feedback, Industria 2 appears to be falling short of player expectations. However, Gloomwood designer Dillon Rogers noted that the number of reviews is still not overwhelming and that opinions could change once fixes and updates are released.

Even so, there is still hope that the reviews will improve, depending on how quickly and effectively Bleakmill rolls out updates. The current situation is a challenge for the developers, but also leaves room for recovery if community feedback is taken seriously.
