Lanterns: new trailer reveals more about Hal Jordan and Guy Gardner

HBO Max has released a new trailer for the DC Studios series Lanterns, putting the central heroes front and center. Unlike the first trailer, which drew criticism for lacking the iconic green heroes, this latest video shows Hal Jordan, played by Kyle Chandler, using his powers in full force.

In the trailer, Hal Jordan is seen using his ring to block powerful energy blasts. He also creates a protective bubble around himself and even conjures money out of thin air. The impressive visuals include scenes of Hal arriving on the shattered surface of a mysterious planet, dressed in his signature Green Lantern suit.

John Stewart and the introduction of Guy Gardner

We also get a look at new recruit John Stewart, played by Aaron Pierre, who expresses his desire for cosmic powers. That appears to put him at odds with Hal Jordan. There’s also a brief moment with Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, a fan-favorite character making his debut this season.

Premiere date and background

Lanterns will premiere on August 16 on HBO Max. The series follows Hal Jordan and John Stewart as intergalactic cops investigating a dark, Earth-based mystery, including a murder in the American heartland.

Alongside the lead cast, Laura Linney also appears in the trailer, raising expectations for the series even further. The premiere announcement sets up an exciting release for both newcomers and longtime Green Lantern fans.
