  • The set includes 1,849 pieces and carries a suggested retail price of $169.99.
  • The design is based on the Joker cover from Detective Comics #880, and two Batman vehicle sets have also been mentioned for January 2027.

What happened

LEGO has announced a new Batman release centered on 67012 DC Batman The Joker Wall Art. The set is designed as a wall display and is presented in product information as an 18+ model, with 1,849 pieces and a suggested retail price of $169.99.

According to the shared information, the design is based on the well-known Joker cover from Detective Comics #880, with artwork by Jock, aka Mark Simpson. That means LEGO is not going with a generic Joker version, but with a specific comic cover as the inspiration.

The wall art is part of a broader Batman wave for January 2027. In the same release window, 67008 Batman Returns Batmobile & Duck and 67009 Batman Arkham Knight Batmobile have also been mentioned. For those two sets, piece counts and prices have circulated as well, but the exact MSRP of Batman Returns Batmobile & Duck differs by source: $59.99 in one report and $69.99 in another.

Timeline

  • 2011: Detective Comics #880 is cited in the sources as the basis for the Joker cover LEGO used.

  • January 1, 2027: planned release of 67012 DC Batman The Joker Wall Art according to the shared product information.

  • January 1, 2027: 67008 Batman Returns Batmobile & Duck and 67009 Batman Arkham Knight Batmobile are also listed for the same product wave.

  • January 2027: 67012 appears as an 18+ display model with 1,849 pieces and a suggested retail price of $169.99.

  • January 2027: 67008 Batman Returns Batmobile & Duck is listed with 672 pieces and a price that varies by source between $59.99 and $69.99.

  • January 2027: 67009 Batman Arkham Knight Batmobile is listed with 317 pieces and a suggested retail price of $29.99.

Background

The new set ties into a recognizable DC Comics cover rather than a standard Batman or Joker minifigure. The sources name Jock as the artist behind the artwork and place the cover in the context of Detective Comics #880.

The Batman wave includes two vehicles alongside the wall art, each aimed at a different price point. 67008 Batman Returns Batmobile & Duck is the larger of the two vehicle sets with 672 pieces, while 67009 Batman Arkham Knight Batmobile is much more compact at 317 pieces and $29.99.

Not every detail is fully confirmed in the available sources. The January 2027 release date is mentioned, but it is not yet completely clear whether that date applies worldwide or may vary by region. The price of Batman Returns Batmobile & Duck also remains unclear because of conflicting source reports.
