Marvel Rivals: new gameplay, action figures, and a broader range of game modes
The world of Marvel Rivals continues to expand with new ways to play and fresh merchandise. Developed by NetEase, this free-to-play hero shooter has become known for its dynamic gameplay and wide roster of Marvel characters. This article looks at the latest developments announced so far in 2026 and what players can expect in the near future.
The introduction of the Blood Hunt PvE mode
One of the biggest Marvel Rivals announcements is the addition of a new player-versus-environment (PvE) mode called Blood Hunt, scheduled for April 23, 2026. In this mode, up to four players can team up to take on Dracula and a variety of AI-controlled undead enemies. Players can choose from six characters: Moon Knight, Blade, Squirrel Girl, Thor, Punisher, and Jeff the Land Shark.
The Blood Hunt mode will require strategic teamwork, while players can upgrade their abilities with unlockable Arcana Scrolls, which provide permanent benefits depending on play level and difficulty.
Midseason update
A major midseason update is set to arrive on April 17, 2026. This includes the new playable Duelist hero Black Cat, who has a unique ability that lets her place Dr. Strange portals. The update will also introduce new story content and other in-game improvements. Black Cat’s addition further expands an already large roster.
In light of this update, it is also worth noting NetEase’s plans to continue evolving Marvel Rivals beyond the standard 6v6 PvP experience. In interviews, the team has said it is seriously considering new game modes and content tied to the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film.
Marvel Rivals action figures
Alongside the digital expansion, Hasbro is working on a line of Marvel Legends action figures based on Marvel Rivals characters. The new range is planned for fall 2026, with pre-orders running from April 22 to May 13, 2026. Fans will be able to choose from Moon Knight, Punisher, a Spider-Man & Luna Snow 2-pack, and a Venom & Jeff the Land Shark 2-pack. These figures reflect the game’s stylized character designs.
