Insomniac had an idea for Venom-centric DLC for Marvel's Spider-Man 2, and a spin-off game starring Venom was also reportedly planned. Those plans, however, changed after Tony Todd's death. Nadji Jeter, who voices Miles Morales in the game, spoke about it on the Love It Film podcast, where he revealed that they had in fact planned more Venom content. "We were going to put out a Venom game and a Venom DLC, but we lost Tony Todd," Jeter said.

Tony Todd died in April 2024 at the age of 69. He was the voice actor who brought Venom's sinister character to life in Marvel's Spider-Man 2. Since his death, questions have arisen about how the Venom plans will develop. In addition, Insomniac said a month before Todd's death that it had no additional story content planned for Marvel's Spider-Man 2.
